No. While we want to encourage leagues to utilize and promote the use of BARS, we are an independent organization focused on the sport. We want to abstain from politics or the perception that our system is influenced by an external organization.
Is BARS a real thing, or is it just an idea?
The Battle Analytics Ranking System (BARS) is 100% REAL. Currently we are in Alpha testing with some of the culture’s most respected bloggers, fans, and battle rap insiders.
Who determines who wins a battle?
You do. Once you’ve looked at the values provided, you will appoint a winner or loser. Just be prepared to back it up! “Men lie, women lie …” Let me stop there because we can’t pay for sampling royalties!
Does RETINA take every aspect of a battle into account?
We believe so; however, we are open to suggestions over time. We will evolve, I’m sure!
How can you utilize math to determine who's actually #1?
Math is only a part of the equation (forgive the pun). You the fan and BattleRapStat Statisticians determine who’s truly number one. By collecting subjective feedback with objective criteria from a substantial sample size (population) we will can equitably determine who’s truly the best-of-the-best.
What type of talent are you recruiting?
Graphic artists, web developers, mathematicians, and app developers.
Why are penalties input by BattleRapStat statisticians only?
We want to ensure that penalties are extremely consistent. By allowing too many “hands in the pot” we may lose the fidelity required to maintain an accurate system.

Why did you choose a 0-10 scale?
Initially the system was a 0-5 scale; however, because of the subjective nature of the art of battling we felt it best to give the user (judge) a wide enough range to fully express their opinion.
Are you planning on judging thousands of battles per year? This seems like a lot!
No. At least not initially! Starting out, we will focus on the top 5-7 leagues and standout emcees that are not associated with a particular platform.
How can I become a part of the Alpha or Beta test group?
Simple, just contact us through our “Contact Us” menu option or send us an email at testgroup@battlerapstats.com. Briefly describe why you should be in the test group (300-words or less). You must be at least 18-years of age, willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement, and have a love for the sport/performance art of battle rap. Please keep in mind that not all applicants will be selected but your interest in the project is appreciated!
